Help with my photography homework?!?!?
okay this is what part of my homework assignment is..
You are to research two types of photography. Compare and contrast what is needed to produce work for the two styles of photography you have chosen. Compare equipment used, marketing techniques, education needed, product presentation and any other pertinent factors important for success in those areas of photography.
i picked wedding and portrait photography to campare and contrast so can you guys help me do the rest??
One is almost always shot on location (wedding). The other is often shot in a studio. Though on location portraits are common as well.
Portraits are usually done within an hour or so. Weddings are all day events with many people in varying environments.
The cameras and lenses would be very similar for both. Where the differences would come in are with the lighting equipment. Weddings are usually shot with a flash and diffuser. Generally mounted on a bracket attached to the camera.
Studio lighting is generally used for portraits. This typically involves between 1 and 5 lights. Some reflectors, gobos etc. Studio portraits are all about you being in complete control of the light. You choose the lighting and how you want it to look. Weddings on the other hand are more difficult in many ways. You have to be able to deal with the available light. You need to know where to place your clients to take advantage of the existing light. Churches often don't allow flash photography. You need to be able to deal with it.
Other differences are that with portraits you can retake a shot if you don't think it came out right You can try many different poses and lighting arrangements to get the look you want. There are no redo's with many of the wedding shots. The first kiss can't be duplicated. Neither can the first dance or the groom shoving cake in the brides face (not recommended).
