Anybody giving up older SLR-need for photo clasess?
Hi, I signed up for photography classes on our community college and my old SLR with 35 mm film is too old for our classes. I am very good in photography and one day I want to make it my real job in the future. One of my friends from Denver told me that professional photographers giving away their used equipment for students who cannot afford to buy it. I will really be thankful if anybody knows some program like that or individual or organization who donate it. Thanks in advance.
I don't know of any programs, but I've had luck on craigslist.
To be honest, I would be questioning why an SLR would be too old. I shoot with a medium format from the 40's and it works fine. The only thing that may be difficult with an older camera is that they often do not have a light meter or any automatic function.
If you do have 20-40 dollars to spare, I suggest checking out ebay. The Pentax ME Super is a great starter camera that has an automatic setting, but is very cheap.
