My Satellite A305's CD/DVD drive is apparently shot.?
After inserting the disk the laptop makes a "whirring" sound then just stops. I've spoken to numerous "computer experts" who have told me numerous "fixes" which not only sound expensive but confusing. I have a photography business and need the drive to work to make Power Point presentations, etc., and cannot be without my laptop for long. I've checked several sites on line and most show "out of stock" for the replacement drive for this model. Is there an inherant problem with this model A305 we should know about? HELP!!!!
Get a separate drive that plugs into the USB port. Probably won't cost much more than the replacement drive which you seem to be unable to locate and you won't be without your laptop.
