You Must Have A Wedding Plan
So, he proposed and you accepted, and now you are filled with anticipation about your wedding day. Yet you may not be quite sure on exactly how to start. You will need to be organized and have a wedding plan. In other words you need to have things exactly where you need them when you actually need them. You will be accumulating things like brochures, phone numbers, bids and estimates from vendors, music sheets and samples, receipts and contracts. You may even collect pictures of dresses, for yourself and the bridesmaids, flower arrangements and many other items.
First you will need a wedding planner, but not necessarily of the human kind. A large wall calendar with a pen attached will do just fine. If you prefer, you can store all of your info on a computer, as long as it's a laptop and you can always have it handy. Start with a "to-do" list, add it to your calendar and be sure to get a large three ring binder with page dividers; plastic protector sheets are a good idea as well. This helps to ensure that whether you need to call someone, make an appointment or interview a vendor or other provider, the information will be easily found when you need it.
Try to get a binder that has a plastic cover. When it is all over you may want to insert a special memento, such as the wedding program and save it as a keepsake. Get one of those zippered pouches that attaches inside the binder that will keep your pens handy for when you need them. Use the dividers to differentiate sections, like for the caterer, photographer etc., in order to help keep your wedding plan organized.
A few other sections in the binder that you may want to consider adding, especially if you have opted for DIY wedding planning, are favorite websites for wedding planning, decorations and crafts and any other make-it-yourself topics.
Having your wedding plan organized also includes being prepared for interviews with potential service providers and vendors. Carry a notebook with you, in which you have already written questions for the various interviews. This is also useful when you want to take notes during the meetings so that you can look them over at a later date.
