whats your job?
i have no idea what i what to go to college for. can you please tell me what your job is & what you do. maybe this will narrow down the choices a little bit. i think i might be interested in real estate or photography. thanks in advance
If you don't mind, I have some thoughts for you to consider...
Your personality type and what your passionate about will be a huge help to your career. For example, if your a outgoing fun loving personality then you should think of what type of work you would enjoy that deals with people. On the other hand, if your more a "thinker", likes structure or analytical then you might be the happiest without all the social interaction.
In Real Estate you have got to be a go getter and someone who enjoys networking and schmoozing. Now, all jobs have a good side and bad side. In Real Estate a bad side would be that you show up to a closing (a closing is when everyone...the buyers, the sellers, attorneys, REALTORS etc meet to "close the deal" on the house) at times it can get ugly and things fall apart...your basically there to congratulate them and hand them the keys etc. and be their support (not the legal issues unless it deals directly with you) and collect you paycheck from the deal. The great side about it is you get to see peoples dreams come true to buy their own home and you get to see the families grow in the community. Most realtor's have other jobs while they are building their clients which like any sales job (your basically selling yourself!) it takes a couple of years if you go at it like a mad man.
If you want success, hard work will be involved, nothing wrong with that but just expect it.
Photography is considered more a hobby and most people can't make a living at it...most people. Don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't make a living at it because you just might have "that eye" where you have a talent and passion for capturing things at just the right moment when everyone else blinked. I say, if you love or enjoy photography...never give that up! You can sell your photography through many means. For example, if you have a photograph (make sure you get all the legal stuff like copy write issues taken care of before putting it on the internet or selling it to someone...I'm looking out for you...the artist so someone else doesn't steal your ideas and make tons of money off of it) frame your picture and (best to call and make an appointment but you could do a "drop in") take several photos to a local boutique or a small family run business or perhaps a "new" restaurant and (You want them to know your serious about your work so dress professional and look sharp! Get some business cards made) and go in and sell them your work. Make sure your prices are NOT retail price (like what you would see at a store) you need to mark it at wholesale so that they can in tern sell the work. You need to compare what you see out in public and compare it to your work and mark it down half price if not a little more. Shrug it off if they turn you down. Don't take it personally, just mark it off as your practicing your sales technique. ![]()
If being around a social circle tend to "drain you" where you feel the need to escape then I wouldn't recommend the Realtor thing to you.
Think about things that you have seen or think would be really cool to do as work but you're having fun getting paid for it. Don't let anyone stand in the way of your dreams!!!! Don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't do something....just because THEY CAN'T! Dream big! Do you think it would be cool to fly a jet or commercial aircraft? You can do it. You can do anything, you just need the right schooling. Do you enjoy "techy" work and prefer to work alone? You might be a great programmer or computer security analyst. Do you feel compassionate for people who are ill? Become a Nurse or Physical Therapist! Or a Neurologist!
It is a good idea to also consider what jobs are in demand. If your passionate about something ...pursue it but don't be discouraged if you need to get a "real" job while you enjoy your passion as well.
Now, as for me...God knows what I am great at and he knows me better than I know myself so I always seek his advice and ask him to "open" and "close" doors. "In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps." Proverbs 16:9
I'm totally excited for your journey and challenges you will face and the positive impact you will have on others! I said a prayer for you! Hugs to you!
