How do I make a good Photography portfolio?
I'm 17 years old and I want to be a photographer. I would love to go to a great University that has a good Art and Design program. The thing is, I need a portfolio to show them. I really want it to be professional, but creative. Are there any sites that show you how to make one? Or do you have any suggestions?

you only need the basics to make a really good portfolio...ignore all the others.
photography is all about what you feel and how you see things. you capture your feeling in the photograph! here are a few things i put together in mine. with the help of my art teacher
LINE PHOTOGRAPH at least 3 different ones
this means find things that have alot of lines...example: telephone pole lines:)
S CURVE 2 of them will be fine
this is a line that makes an s shape i used a high school track
PORTRAIT you will need about 6 different ones
take someones portrait from shoulders up
REFLECTION 2
an object that reflects you will need to capture both the subject and its refelction i used a girl sitting infront of a locker
SAME HUE only need one but 2 will be good
this is my favorite one! you need to find as many things as you can in the same color and arrange them together i used pink because it was easy for me my fave color!
CRACKS around 3
i took a photo of the road by the curb where it was broken off
TEXTURE you will need about 5 different ones
my second fave! anything with texture! trees are the best! leaves, walls, paint, shoes
NATURE 6
anything in nature...try using birds eye view and worms eye view (up high, down low) and many land scapes
CIRCLES 3
i arranged candles on a round table in one and then i put oil in water that makes cool cirlces!!
and those are the basics of photography! they will be impressed!
