How do you sort out your photos?
What are your tips for sorting out your photos in say iphoto? What kind of album names/titles/ categories are good to use? Say you want to sort it out for like a professional portfolio or so, perhaps to burn it to CD so you can present it at a job or client to say " here is what I do in photography"
Before I copy my image files form my memory card, I make new file folders which reflect the subject and date of the shoot.
I then use Lightroom 3 to import them to the specific file folders. I further separate the JPEG files from the RAW files.
Sample library of file folders. Speedworld11, the mother file folder for all assignments shot at Speedworld for 2011. For each new assignment a new folder is made, like SW1-5-11 with two sub-folder called JPEG and RAW. I think you get the point. For the rest of the year, each assignment is given a new file folder under its mother file folder.
I have six major clients that I shoot for at least twice a month, so those mother folders may have from 24 to 52 or more sub file folders under then by the end of the year.
Here is a link that will help you manage your files.

ALL image files are backed up on dual DVD's and an external drive. One set of DVD's goes into my office library and one set into my safe-deposit box
