I'm ready to upgrade my camera lens (from my kit lens)...What should I pick?(Canon Rebel SLR)?

I purchased a Canon Rebel about a year ago. Since then I have been shooting with my kit lens that came with it. Photography is just a hobby for me now...but I LOVE it, and hope to maybe go professional one day. Right now tho, I am a broke teacher's assistant pursuing an Elementary Ed. Degree.

You want wide, but unfortunately, 200$ isn't enough. I can't think of any used good lens for 200$, so I guess you'll have to save a bit, or go for the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 which is 120$ - perfect; you shoot portrats and use natural light. This is the lens for you.
