Illuminate the art of photography

When you have a camera in your hand, you go on clicking photographs. But have you wondered why photographs can only be clicked in the availability of light and the art is not possible in the absence of light. This is because without photography lighting, image capture is not possible. This is the reason why many people call this art "playing with lights". Even the name "photography" is mapping the information in the presence of photography lighting.

Using the camera is a highly creative job and the person handling the camera must understand the importance of photography lighting before capturing any snap. Therefore, in all the theory classes of photography, each lesson is based on the concept of lighting. A good cameraperson needs to possess a keen pictorial sense and a complete command over the source and usages of photography lighting. Then only, you would be able to become an able photographer.

There are two major types of lights- natural and artificial. The major natural photography lighting source is sun and the moon. Reflection caused by the sun and moon can be categorized under photography lighting. During the day, the temperature of the sunlight keeps varying with minutes. And any photograph clicked at different times of the day would be different from each other. You can do an experiment by keeping all the camera settings constant and let the natural photography lighting vary. You will understand why there is such a difference.

Artificial lights are studio lights- Tungsten bulbs and CFLs. Any kind of light created by human to produce illumination is an artificial form of photography lighting. Most of the commercial photography is done under artificial photography lighting. Every studio works under these lighting conditions. To a large extent you would be able to create effect through this type of lighting. You have more liberty to experiment and can alter the Photography lighting conditions as per your use, technique, need and convenience. You can also, change the direction of the light source while in case of natural lights, you will have to shift the subject accordingly.
