Photography Techniques To Try

Could someone please explain the term "contra jour lighting" as used in photography?

I keep coming across this term when researching photographic techniques but can't for the life of me find a definition - or an explanation as to how to create such an effect. Even if I had a clue what exactly I was supposed to try to create.

The term is French for "Against Light". For example, if you have a friend with a hairdo that you want a silhouette of, have the face you, position them so that the sun is directly behind their head, and snap the picture. You will see light radiating from behind their head, while you can't actually see any detail in the face (like a silhouette). Think of a solar eclipse as a large example. Hope this helps!

The person that answered below me is a tad off. His link to an example is very pretty, but not contre jour. I'll put a link to a real contre jour image in my sources.
