What kind of camera equipment should I invest in next?
I own a Canon Rebel T1i along with its standard 18-55mm lens with image stabalizer, a quantaray 70-300mm LDO Macro, a Compact-Macro EF 50mm Lens, two tripods and an interchangeable reflector with 5 settings along with its holder. I am interested in hearing from other photographers what equipment I should invest in next. My job involves creating modeling portfolios, fashion and lifestyle photography. I think I would like to invest in lighting to make my models pop from the background, however, I am a college student and don't have much spare cash. A friend of mine suggested Alien Bees although I'm not sure what style of lighting I should choose. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
I obviously did not describe the look I am going for well enough. What I am talking about requires a style of lighting. Here is a link to a photo utilizing these lights:

I'd recommend (as money is tight) getting some manual speedlight flashes - something like the Yongnuo 560's (about £60) and a set of radio triggers (RF602's) - these will be great for small studio & out door location work as they are lightweight & portable.
A couple of lightstands will be about £24 and an umbrella + bracket or a softbox will be about £45.
Even if you do 'upgrade' to Alien Bees later, the triggers will still be useful and the speedlights can be used as spare rim or kicker lights.
The style of lighting you've linked to looks pretty straightforward & easily achievable with speedlights - they've metered for the ambient & used a largish light source camera left to fill.
