Photography Props For Babies Ideas

February 6th, 2011 by admin

shabby chic/vintage/victorian style props for a portrait studio?

i work for a photography studio that specializes in baby, maternity, and child portraits. Any ideas as to where I can find antique/vintage/shabby chic type furniture/props for the studio??

One obvious source would be antique shops. Of course, you'd have to be prepared to pay premium prices for objects in good condition.

But, if you prepare with some good research and know the real thing when you see it, you might get lucky by browsing some thrift shops, flea markets and swap meets. You may have to do a LOT of searching, but, after a while, you should be able to locate a good selection of usable props.

If you don't just limit yourself to Victorian era objects, then you can be sure to find a lot more. Remeber, "vintage" can mean things as recent as the 60s and 50s. Going back to the 40's, 30's, 20s and beyond and you can set your studio up with a great variety of props.

And, finally, if you locate costume rental shops, you might be able to talk them into selling you some of their older get ups. With a little bit of repair work, you might be able to get some useful life out of good quality replicas.

Good luck.
