Horse Photography for Marketing Photos?
Any tips on taking sale pictures on horses? brushing, actually snapping the photo, lighting, angles, colors that flatter, etc?
People seem to be the most attracted to action shots...they show the prospective buyer that the horse can DO stuff. If you just ride, take a picture of you or someone riding the horse, if you rope or compete in any events, then use pictures from that. If tthe horse is dirty and dull looking then clean it up before taking pictures but you don't have to get to picky, its just a horse. You can take the photo in a barn, arena, or outside, depending on where you ride, etc. and the weather. If your taking an action shot inside your are going to need to use a high ISO and fast shutter speed, outside a lower ISO and high shutter speed. Natural lighting will probably be the most attractive unless for some reason you are in a really dark area. Experiment with different angles as your shooting. The best would probably be to shoot straight on to avoid exaggerating size or features. Make sure you get shots from the side, front, and whatever else you want to. It shouldn't be too hard to get a good picture. Keep in mind that even if you don't get a amazing picture, people will want to see the horse in person and check it out. Good lUck!
