What strobes should I buy for photography use?
You know, lights, with the umbrellas, for a nice flash.
I am a beginner looking for nice equipment, but not exorbitantly expensive professional equipment.
Two lights, to put on either side of the subject(s).
What kit would you recommend?

Do a search for the Genesis kit. It's available in the 1 or 2 light kit. I would get the two light kit for the savings, but don't dive in with both light. Start with one. One light has more possibilities than you would ever guess. Learn to use that efficiently first then move on to two.
Their kits come with convertible umbrellas or softboxes and the lightstands. I would go for the umbrella kit as an umbrella is more versatile than a softbox and you can always add a softbox at a later date.
What camera are you using? You are going to need a way to trigger the light. They come with a sync cord that plugs into your camera and then the other end plugs into the light. Thats your most economical option. The cord is long enough to move around a bit, but I found wireless to be much more forgiving. The less I have to trip over the better I am since I'm a klutz.
Wireless options such as Elinchrom Skyports (about $170 for a trigger receiver set) are awesome. There are cheaper wireless options on eBay but I had rather go with something reputable since I don't need them crapping out on location.
