I have photography lighting kit FUGL-e3 and wondered if there was a guide on how to set it up properly?

A manual isnt supplied with kit therefore guess what im doing and it looks ok

What is it you are struggling with - is it positioning of the lights? Modifiers? (umbrellas, softboxes). Triggering them?

How you set it up (& the number of lights) depends on the look you are going for - high key, low key. Short lighting, broad lighting, rim lighting - all these are possible.

The classic 'portrait' look is usually 3 lights - one lighting the b/g, A main light on the subject (key) and a secondary light (fill) a stop lower to fill in the shadows. This gives fairly 'flat' look though and playing with ratios (between the key & fill lights) can add more contrast & drama.

You can go for a black b/g (don't get light on it - flag your lights or use your barn doors to prevent spill) & shoot at max sync speed to kill any ambient and rim light the subject to lift them from the b/g and use a single light & reflector for fill.

The umbrellas in your kit will make the light source larger - that makes the shadows softer. Modifiers that make the light smaller (snoots) will give a hard light.

Look at your subject & decide how to light it. Hard light suits hard subject (muscular males), soft light suits soft subjects (babies). Think 'subject driven' lighting.
