I need the best aperture and shutter speed for black and white film with 400 iso. And its on a Nikon N55?
I am a photography student and we have to take some pic's in black and white and I have 400 iso, I know that it is best for inside and cloudy weather (or at least I think) but I was wanting to know what is the best aperture and shutter speed to use if I go outside and also inside. I keep trying to get the freakin meter to 0 but I seem to always have trouble, in a way I think its my camera but yeah I know its me. But if anyone knows this question or what is an easy way to get perfect aperture and shutter speed with a Nikon n55 please let me know, any help will be wonderful, thanks *Christina*
Hello Christina.
There is no "best" aperture and shutter speed for any film or digital camera at any given ISO. Often it depends on what you're trying to accomplish and what you're photographing - landscapes vs. action, etc.
Your camera is well equipped and versatile. You have your choice of:
Metered Manual
Aperture Priority
Shutter Priority
7 Program Modes
I suggest using Shutter Priority - you select a shutter speed and let the camera choose the f-stop. You can also try Aperture Priority - you select the f-stop and let the camera select a shutter speed. Just be careful to watch the shutter speed so it doesn't get too low to safely hand-hold.
