Choosing A Dentist Who Is Right for You
Do you have the feeling that you could walk into almost any dental office and hardly notice a difference? Does sitting in a sterile waiting room get on your nerves? Do you wish the office staff could remember who you are at least once?
Maybe it's time to experience something different. Believe it or not, it is possible to enjoy your dental visits while feeling safe and cared for.
But how, exactly, can you find what you are looking for, especially in a metropolitan area? Looking in the yellow pages is overwhelming. There are just too many names and not much of a way to differentiate between them. But what else can you do?
Start by asking around. Word-of mouth referrals are one of the most effective ways to find a dentist you can trust. Be sure to dig a little. Ask what makes the dentist so special. Ask about services and comfort. And don't forget to ask about credentials.
But if you are in a hurry, asking questions and sorting through opinions can be time consuming. That's when the Internet comes in handy. Just type in your area and search for dentists nearby. We are not suggesting that you choose the closest one, though. Sometimes it is worth it to travel a little. Look at a few of the websites. Are they attractive and well designed? Believe it or not, that says something about the doctor whose site you are on. It shows an attention to detail and a desire to share information.
Next, be sure to visit three very important pages: Look at the doctor's credentials. Has he studied cosmetic dentistry or other advanced approaches to dentistry? Does he have any areas of specialty? Has he taken a significant amount of continuing education? Is she up-to-date in her techniques and technology? If that doesn't impress you, move on to the next site. If you are impressed, take a look at the doctor's before and after photos. Be sure that they are actually patient photos and not stock photography. You can learn a lot about the doctor's approach from before and after pictures, even if you are looking for basic and routine care. If the before and after images please you, go on to the office photos or the VIP services. With so many dentists to choose from, why not find one that goes the extra mile to make you feel at home and surround you with comfort?
If you really don't feel like doing all that research, you could just call Life Smiles, the office of Dr. Randy Mitchmore. Not only does Dr. Mitchmore have the highest credentials, decades of experience and lots of enthusiastic patients, he has designed his office to be so beautiful, so comfortable, fun and pampering, patients feel as if they have gone to the spa instead of to the dentist. About the Author
Dr. Mitchmore received his doctorate from the University of Texas in Houston, and has been honored to be named a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry based on his continuing postgraduate education. He has also won a prestigious spot in Houston's Top Docs since 2003, and he lectures to other dentists all over the country.
One of Dr. Mitchmore's greatest delights comes from helping people find their inner smile. He knows that there is more to dentistry than simply fixing teeth – when he isn't giving a superbly healthy smile to his patients, he is giving a smile to his community.
He volunteers for Give Back a Smile, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry's project to restore the broken and damaged teeth of survivors of domestic violence. He spent many years on the board of directors for Bering Omega Community Services, a service that provides compassionate healthcare and social services to people living with HIV/AIDS. In fact, his list of involvements is just too long to print. He is always getting involved in the idea of helping people and giving something back to his beloved community. And when Dr. Mitchmore gets excited about a project, everyone around him feels it and gets passionate about giving back too. In fact, in 2008 he was appointed to the Board of Trustees of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry Charitable Foundation and holds an Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) Mastership.
Dr. Mitchmore is certified in IV sedation and has advanced dental education from the Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne, the Center for Professional Development in Scottsdale, Arizona, The Dawson Academy of St. Petersburg, Florida and is one of only 700 doctors worldwide to have completed the full Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Cosmetic Studies (LVI) curriculum. That is education you can trust.
