What is the best SLR camera for children's photography for a novice?
I have heard Nikon D60 is best........
I want to take professional quality children's photos mostly.
It must be under $1000 (including lenses).
The main thing is finding something fabulous quality but with with SLR.
Any ideas or faves you have owned and used with children? They move so fast....SLR is the only way to go.
I also heard of a camera, it may even be the 60 that allows you to change to black and white while you are filming as well as color if you want.

The best SLR for portraits if you want "fabulous quality" is the Mamiya RZ67 which can be had for about $500.
I am not sure why someone told you the D60 is best. I would be inclined to look at the XTi or D300 if you must have digital.
Never shoot black and white in the camera. It is always better to have a color original and then fine tune it to black and white on the computer.
