Help new to photography need equipment advice?
Hi,
I have finally found myself some time to throw myself into my love of photography, I currently have a pentax mz-50 which was a cast off from a uncle a few years ago, what i'm hoping to do is get a complete set up including a basic darkroom. the problem is i have to bamboozled which different makes and models from my local camera shops as i honestly think they are more interested in a sale than helping me ( i can't blame them in the current state of the world these days).
Ok the type of photography i love is mainly black and white film which i why i would prefer to have a semi auto matic or even a solely manual camera, i have not really used the pentax but i'm hoping to be told its a great camera for a novice! so my question is where do i start equipment wise for both a complete camera set up including lenses and equipment for the dark room any help will be much appreciated xxx
Before you spend a dime on darkroom equipment, take a class in photography and get used to using a darkroom. While there, you will learn exactly what you need and better what you don't need to develop film and make prints at home.
As far a a "complete" camera set up, there really is no such thing.
What lenses you buy has all to do with the subjects you tend to shoot.
Landscapes? A nice wide angle lens like a 20 mm f/2.8
Portraits? A portrait lens like a 100 mm f/2.8
Macros? A macro lens like a 50 mm macro f/2.8
Shooting sports? 300 mm f/2.8, 100-300 mm zoom
What happens is NO one can afford a full camera system, so we buy what we need, one lens at a time.
After you choose the subject you want to shoot, find the best lens for that purpose.
