What's a good substitute for diffusing material?
I own only one reflector/diffuser, and I want to DYI some more diffusers for outdoor photography. I plan on using PVC piping for the framework, but would like to know what is a good substitute to the professional diffusion material?

Incase any of you should recheck this question**I meant diffusion as the material used to diffuse rays of sunlight, preferably placed over the models head or off to the side and in direct sunlight. The type of material on the basic disc (no reflector covers) on the disc reflectors that are the 5 in 1.
I have several different things.
The foil covered bubble wrap that used to be a car sunscreen.
I have several reflectors, from 24x48 inch foamboards, taped together with duct tape. You can put 2-4 together, depending on the size you want. One side is usually a glossy white. I have used spray adhesive to attach pieces of mylar to the pieces. Including silver, gold, red, blue, and green. I use them to tone subjects, backgrounds, and once the fog from a dry ice machine.
For outdoor sets, I have shade material made for patios and gardens. Its mesh, about 8'x8', with fiberglass tent rods for framing. If your subject is just too shiny, it cuts down on light glare, without losing too much light, and doesnt cause shadowing.
Go to your local hotel motel, ask housekeeping manager for a couple of discarded white sheets, and use them in a frame for a softbox.
