Good places to take pictures in NYC?
I'm taking a photography class and was wondering if anybody had ideas where to go to get nice pictures using B&W film in or around NYC. I would like places that are preferably free. Thank you very much
I want interesting places that don't need a permit, I thought of many of those places. I think I should amend my NYC to be Brooklyn/Manhattan. Brooklyn especially in the Midwood area, although I'm open to other ideas.
Ummm...let me be clear here - you live in NYC and can't think of where to shoot? Are you kidding?
Free places to shoot:
Alleys
Parks, including Central Park. (Not the Botanical Garden or the Conservatory garden at 106th St. Permits are required for those locations.)
The waterfront.
Wall Street
Little Italy
China town
the bridges - just pick one they're all beautiful
Inside the Met. They let ya shoot pictures of their art.
In front of the Met. Artists, musicians, every known type of humanity (and probably a few unknown to science) are standing in front of that museum right now.
Shoot the Guggenheim. What a piece of architecture! Conveniently located across the street from Central Park.
The best way to get good photos is to walk. Start at one end of the city and walk all day, shooting as you go
Edit: Only 2 of those places require a permit and I specifically told you that. If you wanted Brooklyn, you should have said Brooklyn. I am very tired of snotty people crabbing because they didn't get the answer they wanted when they didn't ask an articulate question. So here's my advice: get off your butt and walk. Wherever. That's how you find good pictures.
