career help, photography?

next year ill be finished school.
I haven't passed English so i don't think uni is really an option at this point, but I'd like nothing more then to create a career in the photography field. mostly concert photography but anything to begin with, I just want to start somewhere, I live in Melbourne so there's plenty of opportunities. But I don't know how to go about it,
are there internships you can take with photographers?
companies that hire you?
anyone who's been though this or knows anything I would appreciate it greatly!

Concert photography is highly competitive with very little room to make a living out of. Even professional photographers have to shoot other things in a way to subsidize this as a passion. If you really like photography, try learning to be an all around photographers. If you really like music, just keep hanging around musicians.

You can intern with photographers, but for concerts, it's highly unlikely that you will be tagged along due to access limitations beyond photographers' control. "Companies" that may hire you are mostly (web/print) magazines assignments. You will have to compete with people who are willing to do it for free.

Not trying to discourage you. I've been doing this for years mostly for the love of it. Many concert photographer peers are shooting weddings, portraits and other things. Concert photography is hardly a main career except for a very very small number of people who may work for promoters or a staff at a club/venue.
