Photography Studio Background?

I am starting my new photography business. I need help on buying a white background like at professional photo studios like picture people, so the pictures are perfect. I bought one on ebay but I got what I paid for and there were black spots throughout and was not what I wanted. Please help. Thanks
Thanks for the great answers so far. I am perferably looking for a canvas or vinyl backdrop. I have a few muslins one and a white one, but with kids playing around it can cause it to wrinkle still. Thanks

The types of backgrounds you can buy are muslin (cloth), vinyl or paper. All have their advantages & disadvantages.

Muslin
Advantage - can be used over & over again & washed if its gets dirty
Disadvantage - needs ironing before use (I use a garment steamer & iron mine as its hung), although small wrinkles can be 'removed', either by lighting enough so that its white with no detail (blown out), using a shallow dof so that the b/g is blurred, and/or removing any wrinkles/creases in post.

Paper
Advantage - very smooth. Cheaper than cloth or vinyl.
Disadvantages - once paper gets dirty/wrinkled, you tear it off & bin it, so its single use only. Needs replacing as roll gets used. Also needs to be stored upright (not with the roll laying down) as the weight of the roll causes it to squash slightly - when you then unroll it you have a regular crease across it which you can't get rid of.

Vinyl
Advantage - smooth & reflective (good for 'floor'). Washable with a damp cloth.
Disadvantage - heavy. Large rolls can be difficult to manoeuvre. Also, like paper rolls, needs to be stored upright.

Do bear in mind that you don't need to buy white. If you buy an 18% grey, you can turn it any colour - black (keep light off it & use max sync speed), white (light it at least 2 stops above your subject) or coloured (use gels on the lights).
