Are number of professional Photographers in World/ India rising or declining ?
I had asked the question earlier about number of professional photographers in India which is my real interest. One way to find out could be number of photography institutes in India and students graduating, Other approach is to extraplolate the value with ratio of photographers to population.
In USA the number of profesisonal photographers are well documented by various associations. Their total number is between 100,000 and 150,000 with more than half being self- employed. Thus a ratio of 1:3000 of population, I am trying to arrive at an approximate number of photographers in India.
Also interested in the question, whether abosolute number of professional photographers in world are increasing or decreasing ?
I would say that the amount of photographers claiming to be professionals is rising which might actually be saturating proffesional photography with considerably less quality in imagery than in decades past.
