If you had no camera gear and had 5500 $ to spend on photography equipment, what would you buy?
WHAT WOULD YOU BUY???
This is my personal scenario right now if you care to comment on it too:)
If I get the Canon 7d I could get the 17-40L $750, 70-200 2.8 is used for 1400 $ from a local photographer, and the 50 1.4 for 300 from my buddy, the 580 flash, a 2x extender and a 10stop nd filter. Very very hard to say no to all that.
If I go with the 5D mark II, I can get the 50mm 1.4 from my buddy 300$, the 70-200 2.8 is 1400$ from a local photographer, save for a month get the 17-40L and the 10 stop nd filter. Save for another couple months and get the 580 flash and a wireless adapter to do off camera flash ( the 7d has a IR sensor built in) I have shot with the 5d mark II wit the 70-200 and the 5m 1.4. I loved it but the 7d seems like a great value.
I used to shoot with a Nikon d90, sold it and going to canon. Lets not get into the Nikon vs Canon battle. I love both. I love all types of photography, wildlife, landscapes and portraits.
CHEERS!
Sony a850
Sony 50mm f/1.4
Tamron 90mm f/2.8 macro
Sony 24-70mm f/2.8
Sony 70-200mm f/2.8
edit-Actually, instead of the a850 I think I would get the highly anticipated a77 and get an off camera flash set-up, batteries and memory cards with the rest of the $5500.
To whoever gave me a thumbs down for mentioning Sony, the op asked what we would buy, not what he should buy. Pay attention.
@forlorn hope-the op said he used to have a d90 so I would assume he knows at least a little about photography.
