College grants for clown college (not personal)?
Does the government really give grants for this?
With my money?
What other ridiculous degrees does the government hand out free cash for?
I would like grants to stop for
Art, Music, photography, massage therapy, nail tech.
I would like to see higher grants for engineering, math, science, medicine, etc.
Degrees that would eventually help our economy.
A major point is that art and photography majors are simply not finding jobs.
This is all over the internet - no jobs for them.
Isn't this a waste of tax dollars?
Every opinion welcome. Positive and Negative.
There was a respected clown college, part of Ringling Brothers, which lead directly to employment with the circus. I site this as a case where most people might think that this type of education was "worthless", when in reality, it was directly career-related, and highly employable. In other words, you can't assume that just because you think it's worthless, or because you aren't familiar with how the job market for a specific field works, the education is useless or shouldn't be funded.
For example, many of the fields you listed don't have tons of jobs available full time for a company - those people tend to make their own work, be self-employed. That makes them no less "employed". In addition, you're also assuming that you have to work in the field you majored in. That's not true - most employers don't care what you majored in. Most fields don't require you to have majored in something specific. So major in art and go work in marketing instead, and be happy!
Although I don't believe the gov't's grants could be applied to clown college. You pretty much had to pay for that on your own.
