Whats The Difference Between Acting School & Acting Work Shops BQ?

Because im 21 & have been wanting to be a actor ever since watching my first Denzel Film which was
He Got Game & at that time i was 9yr in 1998 but yea it's like when i did a couple school musicals like 24 days Of Christmas was fun & the when at my Church we had did a Skit & I Volunteered to do it with a Girl & of course i was Extra nervous & we were on Camera rehearsing & i had to play a Teen it was like think before you drink & i didn't know a Thing about how to Portray That Character like i got the idea of how to do it but i had to take breaks & take deep breath cuz i was nervous & i got it & the lady told me i did okay & it was good for a first time....& during high School i really didn't have my head on Acting it was Mainly Photography & Carpentry & i kinda thought about it taking it Here & there but really didn't but so & plus when i was younger my mom told me i couldn't, school was more important so Yea whats The Diffrence & do you think i have what it takes

Plenty of people will tell you not to bother and that it is a hard business to get into...

I say screw those who tell you that you cannot do it and do it anyway!

I have no idea if you have what it takes. I have never seen you act. However, you seem interested in taking acting classes and that is the first step! I suggest going to an acting school first. Not a school where you spend a year taking different acting classes, but a school where a class is either ongoing (one day a week until you do not want to go anymore!), or it is once a week for a certain amount of months or it is intensive (5 days a week...all day long). Look for beginner acting classes...Classes titled beginner 1 or just something with beginner in the title. There also audition classes (helping you audition, overcoming your nervousness, teaching you the right and wrong things to say and do...etc) which would be good to take. You should take one of these classes at some point. Probably after you take a beginner acting class. Or even before. Then there is scene study (going over different scripts and learning how to study the characters and scenes). There is improv which is WONDERFUL to take...It will teach you how to come out of your shell and teach you how to improvise scenes (vital in commercial auditions!). There is cold reading (teaching you how to read a script with someone else upon seeing it only once). There is techniques (teaching you different techniques actors from the past have used...I dont suggest this for a beginner...Not everyone uses these techniques). I think that is about it.

A workshop will teach you a lot, but dont go to a workshop without any knowledge. There will likely be casting directors there helping out and teaching you things and talking to you. You dont want them to see you before you are ready to be seen. Dont want to give them a bad impression.
