Panasonic Camera recomendation
I am looking to upgrade from a digital point and shoot to a digital camera with manual controls. My goal is to take "artistic" quality shots, so I would like manual settings, including focus with at least 8 pixel. I also would like recommendations for "free" digital picture editing that has the ability to "erase" sections and specific settings for resizing. Picasa is limited so I will need an editor better than that.( as a general guideline )
I prefer Panasonic because : 1. A friend who has introduced me into photography uses several of them and 2. I want to have "serious" entries to compete at www.panachallenge.com
So I guess my question is for 2 recommendations:
1. Recommend a serious but price conscious Panasonic digital camera.
2. Recommend a free yet in depth photo editing software program
the Panasonic Lumix DMC has Leica made lenses which are very sharp. (You also need the lumix for the contest)
I'm not sure how much you can do with any point and shoot camera. I don't think you can directly control shutter speed or aperature. The link says it has manual controlibility but I'm not sure it's limitations.
