Would it be wise to take a gap year?
I live in Ohio and am graduating high school a year early. I'd like to go to NYU for film and acting.
But since I'm graduating a year early, I was thinking of spending what would be my senior year gaining experience in my hobbies and traveling.
I'd like to maybe go to Tanzania, Nepal, or India with UnitedPlanet.org for volunteering for a few weeks and take a few different types of art workshops in France and Italy. Like photography, film, acting, maybe fashion and cooking. Also maybe join a chorus.
I'm just wondering if this would help me with getting into college/be a great experience?
Gap years can be great experiences that stay with you for years after you do them, and they look great on university application forms, but you need to think about how you'd finance them, if you can take the culture shock and the language barrier.
