Grainy, pixelated, HDR Photos? Help!!!?
Recently I bought a new very expensive SLR, and shortly after I learned about HDR Photography. I love everything about HDR. So I went and downloaded "Qtpsfgui" (a free HDR making software) All the pictures I have seen done with this software still look nice and clear. Why are mine always so grainy after Tone Mapping? Could it be file type? or the images are not stable? I desperately need help so I can get clear HDR Photos. Any other tips on making better HDR Photos will be greatly appreciated too!
The ISO is usually set to 50, and they consist of 3 or more bracketed photos.

Sorry it's a little small forgot to make it bigger.
Great question. The key thing with almost all HDR software is that any grain or dust in the any of the original photos will be magnified. There are a few things to try. First, use a program to eliminate the noise in each of the original 3 photos. Also, use that program on the final output. Even a program in the photoshop family can help you with this. Also, you can also create your tone mapped image, and then place your mid range photo as a layer underneath and the change the opacity of the top layer- Letting the underneath layer come through. Try reducing the opacity about 20 to 30%. Lastly, when creating the HDR in the first place, pay attention to the strength slider. Less is sometimes more. You are welcome to friend my facebook fan page http://www.facebook.com/hdrphotosafaris I try to give a tip a day.
HDR for the rest of us
