I'm looking for tips on digital photography and macro lens?
I recently started with digital photography (I made pictures with an analog camera before) and I got the Canon EOS 450D. The problem is that I have never bought my own lenses before.
I made this test picture, but it came out wrong: http://fc09.deviantart.com/fs46/f/2009/196/2/c/Red_Pom_Pon_Dahlia_by_ailidhe.jpg
The color is off, the picture was slightly out of focus and I couldn't zoom in on just a few petals, so I think I need a new lens for the zooming part, but I was wondering if I did something really wrong with the settings of the camera. My analog pictures never came out this way, they where always the way I wanted them to be.
Width: 4272 pixels
Height: 2848 pixels
Exposure Time: 1/60 sec.
Aperture Value: 7.00 EV (f/11.3)
ISO Speed Rating: 200
Flash Fired: Flash did not fire, compulsory flash mode.
Metering Mode: Pattern
Exposure Programme: Manual
Focal Length: 192.0 mm
And no, I didn't use a tripod, I hate them.
Thanks for advice/ tips/ hints
When photographing such small details, there is bound to be some blur when not using a tripod, even at 1/60 sec. This is probably due to you slightly moving the camera when you take the picture or the movement of the shutter itself.
I recently was taking macro pictures of a spider and had to use a shutter speed of 1/250 sec to ensure it was perfectly clear, however this was possible since I had an off-camera flash.
I'd suggest using an additional light source to speed up the shutter speed or just use a tripod (I understand what you mean about tripods- they just don't seem to have the versatility that you need them to have, except for the very expensive ones, perhaps).
