What is a good digital camera for taking weather photography, especially lightning?
I am looking for a camera in the $500 or less price range that takes very good pictures of nature and weather. I am in love with thunderstorms, so it would need to have the ability to take amazing pictures of lighting and a fast shutter speed.
Go for an SLR either film or digital. In order to take shots of lightening you will instantanious shutter response. You wont get this with a point and shoot camera.
The only one in your price range right now is the Nikon D40 at just under $500.
If you want film you can get a very good used camera from Canon or Nikon for $200 or less with lens. Check a camera store near you or Craigslist.
