How do you get a photo to look like this?
I've been seeing this technique used quite often, and I'm curious as to how photographers are doing this with their photos. Notice that the photos are very crisp and precise. Also, the colors are vivid, yet not overpowering. I can't explain it properly, but take a look at these photos.
This one by Tabatha Guidry Photography (she's great! look her up on Myspace!) - http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/1/l_5382b5c13bdf4af783739ed5e7e27757.jpg

Now, I did use the vivid color setting on my camera for this one, but even if I use the regular setting, it still comes out very warm and softened. I really enjoy the sharp edges and low-key color of the first photo. I was just wondering if anyone knew what setting (like manual, large or small aperture, etc.) to use on a digital camera to take this type of photo. Thanks!!
I would suggest a couple of things:
1. Experiment with Polarizing Filters - It looks like the example photo from Tabatha's Gallery was taken using a Polarizing Filter which mounts onto your lens.
2. Don't use the Vivid Setting on your Camera - Its much better to edit your photos using post-proccesing software like photoshop. You can control every aspect of color, rather than letting your camera decide for you.
3. Consider your Surroundings - The couple in your photo are surrounded by Green foliage. The surrounding light is bouncing off of the foliage and onto the couple's skin tones.
Hope that Helps
Best Regards
