Camera Equipment Plus

camera equipment plus
on the apollo 11 mission in 1969 why did they take up such poor quality cameras so only grainy blurred footage?

could be obtained why not take up better recording equipment available in the late 1960s

plus with all the huge telescopes on earth today, why doesn't NASA or anyone just take a blown up image of the area of the landing site showing flags, footprints etc. to settle the score

Because the "better recording equipment" that was available in the late 1960's was the size of a large suitcase, and weighed close to 100 pounds. Plus, there was a limited amount of "bandwidth" available to transmit images in real time, so they had to make compromises on the number of frames per second, and compress the hell out of the video signal to be able to transmit it. When that camera was developed, it was considered a technological marvel.

The reason for not "just blowing up an image" to show the landing site has to do with resolution. A telescope's ability to resolve two things that are very close together is purely a function of the size of the lens or mirror. Once you get to that resolution limit, there is no point in magnifying any further, because all you're magnifying is a blur. You'd need a telescope a couple of orders of magnitude bigger than anything that exists to get even close to the necessary resolution.

Remember that the moon is a quarter of a million miles away, and the stuff we left on the moon is quite small--if you knock the legs off the descent stage of the LM, it would easily fit in a two car garage--and that's several times bigger than anything else we left up there.

However, the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) _has_ taken pictures from lunar orbit that show the stuff left behind. While you can't see individual footprints, on some of the photos you can actually see the tracks the astronauts made as they walked around.

For all the people who kept hollering "If we really went to the moon, why don't they show us pictures!", this should be enough. However, they just claim they were Photoshopped--which is the same thing they would claim if there were earth-bound telescope pictures that showed the same thing. That's because they really don't care about evidence.
