For a Geology student, which is the best equipment for field trips?
I need to buy a pocket knife, and a geological hand lens, and I would love some feedback as to which brands and models are the way to go. Also, considering that for field trips I will be lugging around my Estwing rock hammer, compass, camera, etc etc, is there a belt that you can recommend to make life easier? Or will I just end up looking like a big dork? Thanks for your help!!

If you wear everything on a belt it will get in the way and be tiring. Keep your necessary stuff close and the rest in a pack you can set down. If you are in an area of black flayss and mosquitos a face net and bug spray can make life a lot easier. Well broken in and comfortable shoes are a must.
