What do you think about my lenses? should I buy a new one?
I have a Canon Digital Rebel XTi 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens (Black)
the lenses I own are: (besides the kit lens)
Tamron af 28-300mm di vc
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II
Opteka HD² 0.20X Professional Super AF Fisheye Lens
I mainly like to take pictures of people like my family and friends. I'm going to a photography class this December. But I'm not sure if my lenses are adequate for it.
I take a lot of pictures but I'm not satisfied at all because they look like they were taken from a point and shoot camera rather than a DSLR.
I want my pictures to look like professional like my other amateur friends.
Should i buy a new lens that will satisfy want I wanted to reach?
Pls. help me as I'm very much new. Well, I got my camera 2 years ago and still not know how to properly take professional pictures.
I envy some ppl who have more high-end camera. They have the new versions and I only have an old camera.
Most photo classes require the student to use a 35 mm SLR. Usually only one lens is necessary to take the class, because the thrust of the class is to teach the student how to expose film perfectly and develop and print the resulting negatives perfectly as well. Once that is accomplished, ANY camera the student may later use, will provide the same excellent exposures.
The Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II on a find 35 mm EOS SLR would be an excellent way to go, at least for the first two classes.
The "high end" cameras will NOT make your photos look any more professional

MORE: Do NOT try to use any EF-S lenses on any 35 mm EOS or 5D/1D Canon cameras ... those lenses will damage them
From my research, the Tamron af 28-300mm di vc will not damage any of the Canon full frame cameras
