Beginning Photography?
Whats the best camera for a beginner who wants to pursue photography as a career? Seriously as a career.
Before rushing out to buy a camera, first check with your local community college and see if they offer photography classes. If so, enroll and ask for a course syllabus or ask the instructor what equipment is required. If its a really good course you will be required to use a 35mm 100% manual film camera.
If you have to buy a 35mm camera make it a Pentax K1000 with a 50mm f1.7 lens and the Owner's Manual since it is considered the best student camera.
If there are no courses available for you then you're going to have to self-teach. Not the easiest thing but doable. Again, I urge you to start with a 35mm film camera. Buy the book "Object & Image: An Introduction To Photography, Third Edition" by George M. Craven.
If you feel you must begin with a digital camera, check these books:
"Hands-On Digital Photography" by George Schaub
"How Digital Photography Works, 2nd. Edition" by Ron White.
