Canon Powershot G9 Help!?

Yesterday I went shopping for a digital camera and came home with a Canon powershot G9 even though I know nothing about photography past what I learned in one semester during high school. I'm wondering if there is a good web-site with tutorials and even possibly sample photos that list f stops, aperture, etc. to give me some basic ideas about camera settings in different lighting or settings. I know settings will change in every circumstance, but I just want somewhere to start. I also know there are all of the auto features, but I'd really like to use some of the manual features to put this $500 to use!

Thank you.

The manual will tells you a lot of stuff - and you'll find it mostly useful.

Otherwise... well you can browse around wikipedia for "f stops" or "shutter speeds" in their photography section. They're not the best out there, but it's quite comprehensive and informative.
